Dale Cox Architects brings the exuberance of youth and the experience and wisdom of age to each of its projects. The firm has built more than 70 Lake Tahoe lakefront homes, ranging in size from 2,000 to 55,000 square feet, and has extensive knowledge in dealing with the region’s extreme weather as well as local permitting and building regulations as mandated through the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA). In addition to hundreds of completed buildings and more than 30 years experience, the firm boasts an unparalleled level of service.
Architectural designs are based on a post-and-beam philosophy, meaning that it’s possible to see the structure, the materials and how they are all put together. Dale Cox
Award-winning architect Dale Cox has been designing buildings around the West for almost 40 years. A 1970 architecture graduate of Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, he also studied at Harvard and in Florence, Italy. Dale worked for several architecture firms before founding the Truckee-based Dale Cox Architects in 1979, allowing him to work and play in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains. Dale brings extensive experience in resort design and luxury building, and is licensed in California, Nevada, Utah, Idaho and Montana. He’s been involved with projects in all the western states to include Hawaii, and estimates that he’s designed or worked on more than 2,000 condominiums, 100-plus commercial buildings and approximately 300 residential homes in his career.
Ali McElhinney
Dale Cox Architects’ office manager extraordinaire Ali McElhinney manages the accounting, contracts, website, as well as all graphics & marketing efforts. Her expansive skills in Adobe Photoshop help bring conceptual designs to life. These renderings are an important stage in the design process to allow visualization of an idea in a very cost-effective way. Her highly-organized work ethic makes her an invaluable part of the firm.
Jordan Wilday
Jordan is a LEED AP & licensed Architect in the state of Nevada. He is a graduate of University of Michigan & Arizona State University. Experienced in Resort & Hospitality Design, Residential, and Light Commercial. As a Project Architect, Jordan manages and designs projects from start to finish.
Peter DeMattei
Peter has been in project management, architecture and construction for the past 30 years. He has 15 years of Architectural Experience & 15 years of General Contracting Experience. As the resident expert in 3-D modeling, Peter DeMattei handles the Building Information Modeling (BIM) for all the company’s projects, a role he’s held for more than five years. He is also one of our lead Project Managers in the office, responsible for taking projects from schematic design to build.
Tina Ho
Tina Ho’s project management background in a military medical facility contributes to her effectiveness in working with numerous government permitting agencies, as well as design review boards in the private arena. She is a LEED AP and manages projects from start to finish.
